Admissions Procedure

Assuming you have noted the contents of this website, we would be pleased to hear from you to arrange a visit, and of course to meet the Headmaster and his staff. It is always a pleasure to show prospective parents and their children around Pointers, especially during school hours.

Of primary importance is the initial interview with parent(s) and child. The academic potential of the child is considered to be of less importance than the sympathetic and wholehearted support of the parents in the aims and ideals of the school.

Children entering the school at, or over the age of five will be expected to sit an informal set of diagnostic tests (e.g. reading, writing and arithmetic). It may be that as a result of the interview and test, we will advise that the best interests of the child may not be served by this school. Parents will appreciate that we are a school that requires and expects good standards of appearance, behaviour and motivation.

In order to register your child for a place, the Registration Form should be returned with the Registration Fee. Confirmation of acceptance will be given in writing, but only following a visit by the parents and child and the completion of the diagnostic test (if applicable). This is most usually during the term or holiday before admission. A deposit of £500 is then required to secure the offered place.

For further information, please see Conditions of Admission.
