Pointers is proud to be one of the few schools in London with an ‘organic’ food policy. All our meats, eggs, vegetables, and fruit are organic except when there are occasional disruptions in our supply. We prepare much fish, chicken and eggs, quiche, with plenty of vegetables and fruit. Cooked food is generally grilled, baked, poached, steamed and only rarely fried. Our policy is to use only ‘organic’ lamb, chicken and eggs, and free-range when organic chicken and eggs are unavailable. Chips are not on the menu.
All pupils who stay for lunch eat the lunches provided by the school. Much time and effort go into their planning so that they provide an enjoyable, balanced and nutritious meal – for children with appetites! Vegetarians are provided for at every meal. Two courses are served at lunch (with ‘seconds’ if wanted) and advance menus are placed on the parents, noticeboard. There are three sittings between 12.00 and 1.45 pm.
There is also a mid-morning break for which all children are expected to bring a fruit snack and water in a suitable container.
