Geography
In key stage 1, geography is about developing knowledge, skills and understanding relating to children’s own environment and the people who live there, and developing an awareness and knowledge of the wider world. Topics covered in KS1 include: Journeys and Local Study, Map Making and Reading, Weather and The School Environment.
In Key Stage 2, Geography is about developing knowledge, skills and understanding relating to people, places and environments in the United Kingdom and overseas. It also includes an appreciation of how places and people relate to each other and the wider world. Units covered in KS2 include: Places, Rivers, Weather, settlement and Environmental Change. The development of key locational knowledge is also included and taught in conjunction with the Atlas Skills Book.
