History
Children have a natural interest in learning about the past and we aim to develop this. At an early age pupils progress from familiar situations to those more distant in time. Later on they are taught not only about the lives of notable men and women (including personalities drawn from British history) but also about past events of different cultures.
Areas studied at Key Stage 1 include the Great Fire of London, toys (old and new) and castles. Areas studied, for example, at Key Stage 2 will include Romans, Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, life in Tudor times and Victorian Britain, as well as Britain from the 1930’s. However, as we live in an area rich in history, we also make time to investigate and study the rich and varied aspects of the locality. Each class will enjoy termly visits to places of historic and cultural interest.
