Religious Education
In our opinion, education without a spiritual/religious component is deficient and we therefore place a high value on this subject area. Pointers is a Christian school and does in the main teach and celebrate this faith. Other faiths are studied (mainly in Key Stage 2), of course, and all children are taught to respect other religions and the people who identify with them. Knowledge and understanding, we believe, must be tempered with mutual respect and tolerance.
From an early age the pupils at Pointers will learn about the great truths found in the Bible and will also learn to pray, sing and listen to the rich stock of stories found in this great book. Most of our school assemblies in the week will be concerned with moral issues and the importance of the individual making the right choice. Our view is that the Christian faith as outlined in the Old and New Testament is the greatest gift we can give to any child.
