Speech and Drama
We very much believe in the value of Drama in providing an outlet for self-expression and in the development of imagination and artistic awareness. It increases social understanding (particularly through role-play), mental perception, fluency of speech, self-respect, and self-confidence. Drama is therefore promoted throughout Pointers and is actively taught by a professional on a weekly basis. Classes throughout the school produce bi-termly form assemblies and the Infant and Junior sections of the school each prepare annual Christmas productions.
We also offer private tuition (shared with another pupil if desired) in the London Academy of Dramatic Art (LAMDA) Speech and Communication Examinations. These help children attain a good standard of speech and develop confidence, imagination and expressive skills. The LAMDA examinations are recognised internationally.
